I’ve had a pretty crazy number of visitors these last couple of weeks. I love it because it means I also get to explore this new city I live in. There is a lot of first times for me as well still in Los Angeles. The other day we took a drive too Malibu and we happened to drive by The Getty Villa. After scoring some tickets (without making reservations) we drove up to the hills and took in some spectacular sights before watching the sunset in some Malibu beaches.
If you are ever in Los Angeles, I would definitely recommend a trip to visit both [The Getty Center] and The Getty Villa. Stunning.

I photographed a wedding in India. I blacked out in Vegas (twice). Toured wine country with my girls. Road tripped from Arizona to Georgia. Helped capture my best friend’s wedding. Moved to Los Angeles. Worked with celebrities. Participated in my first editorial. Oversaw my first editorial. Flew to DC for an amazing corporate opportunity. Photographed amazing weddings. Was featured in a magazine. My Photographs were featured on NBC and Discovery Channel. Almost destroyed Seattle’s nightlife. Explored Los Angeles with my family. Made amazing friends. Almost died in Alaska. Changed my business. Made amazing contacts.
It has been another incredible year. Full of changes, new beginnings and lots of cupcakes. I started my 2011 in India capturing some of my best images to date and ended it with good friends (and bottles of alcohol) in my new city of Los Angeles.
I could really write a HUGE post on all the things that have happened to me this year, but you are going to have to take my word for it. It was an amazing year and I can’t wait to see what 2012 will bring me.
Here are some of my favorite images of 2011 that come to mind.

I am excited for 2012.
We were lucky. We definitely had planned to go to Hoi An while in Vietnam, but we didn’t expect to be there during a full moon lantern festival. I don’t remember if the bus ride to Hoi An was eventful or not. I think we were still reeling from the horror that was the 17 hour bus ride into Vietnam.
We did get separated while in town though trying to find a hostel. Everything was booked. So we had to split up.
But, I remember staying in the fanciest place the whole entire trip. My room had three beds. My hostel had a pool & margaritas. Hoi An is also extremely famous for clothes and shoes. Whatever custom clothes you want made, they will make it for you. People from all over the world come to Hoi An to get clothes made at a super cheap price.
I was in heaven.
We quickly went into town and explored and found out that the festival was going on.
It was where I took that one picture.
A picture of a girl setting her lantern on the water.
The picture that started it all.
The picture that got me emails from National Geographic magazine editors.
It seems so long ago now.
Hoi An, Vietnam.

Here it is.
