I’ve had a pretty crazy number of visitors these last couple of weeks. I love it because it means I also get to explore this new city I live in. There is a lot of first times for me as well still in Los Angeles. The other day we took a drive too Malibu and we happened to drive by The Getty Villa. After scoring some tickets (without making reservations) we drove up to the hills and took in some spectacular sights before watching the sunset in some Malibu beaches.
If you are ever in Los Angeles, I would definitely recommend a trip to visit both [The Getty Center] and The Getty Villa. Stunning.

Meet Karelia (or Kari for short). The air was crisp and cold for this awesome senior portrait session down in Arizona. Her stunning natural beauty and grace was highlighted by the glow of the crisp air and surrounding desert in the winter. Like most girls, she was super nervous at first, but soon realized that I am all about having fun.
She also realized how crazy I am when it comes to shooting. Driving along when all of the sudden I would stop and yell “HERE!” and make her pose in the middle of a dry river bed, an abandoned lake bridge or in the street with oncoming traffic.
These images were edited using the new VSCO film presets and they came out absolutely stunning.

Family portraits are tough. It is even tougher when it is someone actually related to you. Its very: “What if they don’t like the pictures? They know where I LIVE!” But, I really had nothing to fear. There are a lot of perils when it comes to large family portraits, but these cool cats made it SO EASY. Viviana, Yvonne and Livier sisters) had planned the shoot as a gift to the family. As I said before, I am skeptical about shooting for family, but I love those girls and they understood that I hate boring family portraits. The best advice for family portraits…. act like a family.
You will get great shots.

A while back Samie contacted me for some actor [headshots]. While her headshot session was AMAZING, she was also gracious enough to stick around for a bit and allow me to play with some new lights and equipment that I purchased.
I fell in love with her hair.
There was nothing fancy about these shots. We were just having fun and playing around with light. She didn’t even bother to fix her hair. But when you look at the pictures, you will realize that she didn’t need to. While most editorial photographers or retouchers would go crazy trying to hide all the hair strands and be crazy finicky, I really didn’t do any of that here. It becomes to fake at times.
Naturally beautiful.

When it rains in Los Angeles, people go crazy.
Driving in the rain here is a one way ticket to a storm of non-stop cussing in your car. A bestie from college was in town (all the way from Ireland) and told me she would be taking a trapeze class at the Santa Monica Pier. (you can see her being a monkey below)
Driving there in the middle of rush hour, when it was raining, was a horrible experience.
BUT, I got to hug my friend after not seeing her for over a year AND I got to see and INCREDIBLE sunset.

It was a fantastic fantastic weekend.
