To say that Susan + Andrew make each other smile is an understatement. It was all the little things I noticed. The way they grab each other’s hand while they walk, the way he covers her from the cold, the way she looks up at him and feels at home. Before I began the arduous process of moving to LA (which, in fact, will take about a month) I had the opportunity to grab Susan and Andrew’s engagement pictures at Fort Point in San Francisco.
They asked for recommendations on locations in the city since they live further South and I immediately thought of Fort Point (mostly because Kiernan and Jenny rocked it there as well). It was a little cold and windy that afternoon, but that did not stop us from having a blast and getting some rockin’ pictures!
Susan and Andrew are getting married in August in Los Altos and I’m thrilled to be a part of their wedding!

I don’t know what it is, but whenever my friends visit (especially the girls) they just always want to go. I think the idea of good music, good dancing, no men hitting on them and good drinks make them go giddy with anticipation. Little do they realize that drinks in the Castro are pretty much Kerosene with sugar. Everyone one of my friends that have gone to the Castro have either woken up with severe regret, vomited or blacked out.
Completely worth it in my opinion. I remember taking Mike to the Castro on his honeymoon trip to San Francisco after Briana had passed out from too much wine. That night will remain legendary and those pictures will remain secret.
To my girls that love the Castro, there is also West Hollywood in L.A.

So keeping in the tradition that I have awesome clients I recently had a meeting with a future bride (Janna) whose wedding I will be photographing. During the meeting we had Korean BBQ and she brought me gifts. Basically it was photographer client love.
Anywho, let me tell you about these awesome salts I was given by Janna, who started the business herself with a chef!! Secret Stash Sea Slats produces a line of high-quality gourmet flavored sea salts. These artisan salts are used as a finishing to add flavor as well as enhance the natural flavors of your ingredients. This is the explanation I got from them of course. My explanation would be something ridiculous like “SALTS THAT MAKE FOOD YUMMY!” You should check out the website and see the explanation for the salts and a small video as well (which features my incredibly missed Seattle).
You should have seen my face though when I saw the label for Chorizo Salt!

Thanks for the awesome gift Janna! I can’t wait to see you in May!

The day of the wedding was finally here. After a couple of days of activities for everyone it was time to see the ceremony that I like to call “The Rice War” (see photo above). They had the biggest room in the entire hotel for the ceremony. Actually, the videographers had set up a huge crane in order to get sweeping and dramatic shots of the entire process (you can see the crane in a couple of pictures.) I had to pull off some Matrix moves a couple of times so I could avoid getting hit by that crane.
To be completely honest, I had no idea what was going on throughout most of the ceremony. Hitha’s uncle tried to explain to me a couple of times, but with me trying to get pictures around the other photographers and videographers, it was hard to remember what was going on. There was a lot of chanting, blessings and rice throwing. The ceremony also lasts a lot longer than I expected, but the guests had servers go around with food and drinks. Afterwards, there was a great lunch and a nice break for a couple of hours so everyone could get some rest.
The colors of the ceremony were breathtaking, as were the set ups. And I loved when Hitha was carried into the ceremony in a little basket. I want to be carried like that at all times now. Especially when I enter a restaurant or bar.
It was all so amazing that I went a little trigger happy, which is why this post has quite a few pictures in it.
